Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Sales based in the United States.

Take on a strategic sales leadership opportunity in the medical device industry, driving regional growth and developing high-performing sales teams across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. As Director of Sales, you will oversee commercial performance, revenue growth, profitability, and market development for an assigned territory focused on innovative orthopedic solutions. You will translate business objectives into actionable regional sales strategies while building strong relationships with healthcare customers, distributors, and strategic partners. This role combines hands-on field leadership, business planning, performance management, and talent development in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You will coach sales representatives, strengthen territory coverage, and ensure sales activities align with organizational objectives and compliance standards. The position is remote, with a preference for candidates residing in Texas and consideration for those based in Oklahoma or Louisiana. Weekly travel is required to support customers, distributors, and sales teams throughout the region.

\n Accountabilities
  • Drive regional sales performance: Achieve or exceed assigned sales quotas, revenue targets, growth objectives, gross profit goals, and key performance indicators while managing inventory, consignment, and expenses within approved budgets.

  • Execute sales strategies: Implement regional sales plans and commercial initiatives, ensuring sales representatives effectively promote products to existing and prospective customers.

  • Develop business plans: Create and execute annual regional business plans, establish performance measures, and evaluate results against commercial objectives.

  • Manage forecasting and reporting: Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline information, and performance reporting using Salesforce and analytical tools such as Power BI.

  • Strengthen strategic relationships: Maintain active relationships with key accounts, healthcare customers, distributor principals, and strategic partners to support long-term growth.

  • Monitor market trends: Analyze customer needs, competitive activity, market opportunities, and regional performance to provide actionable recommendations to leadership.

  • Recruit and develop sales talent: Recruit, select, onboard, train, coach, and retain company-employed and independent sales representatives to maintain effective territory coverage.

  • Lead field sales execution: Work alongside sales representatives regularly, evaluate their performance against established objectives, and provide coaching to improve sales effectiveness and customer engagement.

  • Establish performance expectations: Set annual sales objectives, monitor quarterly results, and implement performance management practices that support accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Build team capabilities: Identify training and development needs, strengthen clinical and technical competency, and create development opportunities for high-potential sales professionals.

  • Ensure compliance: Enforce company policies, establish appropriate discounting practices, and monitor compliance related to demonstration and implant inventory.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with internal teams to align commercial priorities, support customer needs, and improve regional execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration or a related field.

  • At least 5 years of successful medical device sales experience, preferably in shoulder arthroplasty or orthopedic implants.

  • At least 5 years of proven sales management experience, ideally within the shoulder arthroplasty market.

  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales quotas and delivering measurable regional revenue growth.

  • Experience leading both direct sales representatives and independent, contract-based distribution teams.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise and medical device sales processes, territory management, and regional commercial strategy.

  • Proven ability to manage revenue growth, gross profit, sales forecasting, inventory, consignment, and expense budgets.

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, evaluating, and retaining sales talent.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret performance data and translate insights into effective action plans.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across departments and build productive relationships with internal stakeholders, distributors, and healthcare professionals.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM and sales analytics platforms, particularly Salesforce and Power BI.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive leadership style suited to a dynamic, performance-driven sales environment.

  • Willingness and ability to travel weekly throughout the assigned region.

  • Location requirement: Candidates should reside in Texas; candidates based in Oklahoma or Louisiana may also be considered. Applicants residing in other states are not eligible for consideration at this time.

  • Work authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation: Salary and compensation details are not specified in the provided job description; candidates should confirm the package with the hiring team.

  • Employee benefits: The role includes a benefits package, although specific healthcare coverage, retirement benefits, and paid leave details are not provided.

  • Professional growth: Opportunities to develop leadership capabilities and advance within the medical device industry.

  • Values-driven culture: A collaborative environment that emphasizes accountability, teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement.

  • Meaningful impact: The opportunity to contribute to orthopedic innovation and support healthcare professionals through the delivery of medical device solutions.

  • Regional leadership: The chance to shape commercial strategy, develop sales talent, and influence business performance across a multi-state territory.
