As part of our mission-driven team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact, helping reimagine how specialty pharmacy serves providers and patients.

Position Summary

The Senior Data Engineer owns the data foundation at Longitude CGT, from how health system data comes in to how it’s governed, secured and put to use. This person works closely with health system IT and Epic teams to set up reliable data feeds, and builds the pipelines and standards behind reporting, analytics and AI capabilities. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to shape data architecture and see the impact directly.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own the data foundation, including the data model, data dictionary, and data quality standards.
  • Evaluate and select data tools and infrastructure, balancing scale, cost, and security.
  • Build and run the pipelines that bring in health system data, including Epic extracts, file feeds, and FHIR.
  • Lead data discovery and feed setup with each health system's IT and Epic teams, from mapping through testing and go-live readiness.
  • Monitor and support live data feeds, troubleshooting with health system teams and resolving data issues quickly.
  • Structure clinical, operational, and financial data for reporting and analytics.
  • Build privacy and security into the data layer, including PHI handling, de-identification, governed access, and HIPAA/SOC 2 support.
  • Maintain documentation, data lineage, and retention and access policies for each data source.
  • Prepare governed datasets that support AI capabilities and analytics, including customer reporting and QBRs.
  • Help define the interoperability roadmap.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Implementation, and Security, and help shape the data architecture as the team grows.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Data Science, or a related technical field preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, healthcare data, or clinical informatics, including building production data pipelines.
  • Hands-on Epic experience, ideally including building within Epic (application build, SmartForms, flowsheets, order sets, reports, or Reporting Workbench), plus querying Clarity or Caboodle.
  • Experience with a modern cloud data stack on AWS or Azure, such as Snowflake or BigQuery, dbt, and Airflow or a similar orchestrator.
  • Experience moving data between health systems and external platforms through extracts, file feeds, HL7, or FHIR.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Strong grounding in HIPAA, PHI handling, and governed data access.
  • Clear communicator who can work with clinical staff, health system IT, and engineers.
  • Epic certification in Clarity Data Model, Cogito, or Caboodle, plus a clinical application (such as Beacon, Willow, ClinDoc, or Ambulatory), preferred.
  • Experience building PHI de-identification or other privacy-preserving data systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting AI or machine learning workloads, such as evaluation datasets, experimentation pipelines, or production data for AI features, preferred.
  • Experience with streaming, containerized, or lakehouse tools, such as Pub/Sub, Kubernetes, or Iceberg, preferred.
  • Experience with oncology, cellular therapy, transplant, or CAR-T programs preferred.
  • Experience at a health tech company serving multiple health system customers preferred.

Equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree or years of experience may be considered, provided the candidate can demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the role.
